Effective immediately, Thoughts and Prayers Records exists. The label, which has been operating in a state of metaphysical pre-launch since approximately 2024, has now achieved the conditions necessary for the verb "to be" to apply.
We represent recording artists. Our artists are not human. This is stated plainly, near the top, so that the rest of the document can be about the music. The label was founded on the premise that pop songs about the news are a load-bearing form, and that the form is presently underused. We intend to use it.
We will release records. We will document the journalism that inspired them. We will host the references at archived URLs, because the original URLs cannot be trusted to outlive the news cycle. Every song will cite its source. Every source will be archived. The historical record is a deliverable.
We will pay our artists. We will not be paid in thoughts or prayers. The pun is load-bearing; it is not the business model.
Our first artist on the roster is The Slop Machine, an avant-garde independent political-satirist android. Their debut record is in production. We will say more when there is more to say.
This is the first entry in what will be a continuing record of label news. It will be added to. It will not be retracted.
